Downloading Windows to Oracle Virtual Box
This tutorial is for how to download windows 11 on Oracle Virtual Box using a .iso file.
Begin:
Step 1: Go to Download Windows 11 and scroll down til you see download .iso file here. Select the Windows 11 (multi-edition ISO for x64 devices)
ALTERNATIVE: If you cannot download the .ISO file and are getting an error. You can download the windows media creation tool and download the .iso file that way.
Next: Open Oracle Virtual Box to set up the Windows Virtual Machine.
- Select New in Oracle Virtual Box
- Select the windows 11 .iso image you downloaded
- Name your virtual box. (I named mine windows11)
Next: Click Unattended Install to create your username and password for the virtual machine.
Next step is to click Hardware and adjust the Base Memory and Processors for use. The rule of thumb is to use half of your RAM and half of your Processors.
Next go to Hard Disk and leave the settings as default and click Finish.
You should now have both your Kali VM and Windows VM available in virtual box.
The windows machine will automatically start up and press any key to boot. The windows machine will then begin to install. Give this a while to install.
NOTE: After download if you get just a black screen, close out of the machine. Open settings on oracle, go to display, enable 3D acceleration and set video memory to 128MB. Restart the VM, and it will reinstall windows.
Windows Virtual machine is now installed!
